District Overview
Crete Monee School District 201-U is a pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade unit school district. It serves approximately 4,300 students. The district has (4) K-5 elementary schools, a K-8 Magnet School, a middle school serving 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students, and a four-year high school.
District 201-U serves a geographic area of 80 square miles and is located 32 miles south of the Chicago metropolitan area. The east boundary borders the State of Indiana. The Crete-Monee School District includes the villages of Crete, Monee, University Park, and the Will County portion of Park Forest.

Our Staff
The Crete-Monee School District has a very competent, dedicated, and forward-looking staff representing knowledge gained through experience and the spirit and energy of the young. 56.8% of our teachers hold a master's degree or above. The school community has a very active and supportive staff.
Leadership
The Crete-Monee Schools have played a leadership role at both the national and state levels. Crete-Monee Middle School is only one of five middle-level schools in the entire nation to twice receive recognition as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. CMMS is one of 20 lead middle schools for the State of Illinois and the recipient of the Carnegie National Systemic Change Award. It was invited by U.C.L.A. to be a participant in its National Study on Middle Schools.
Many of our schools are achieving at or above national norms on standardized achievement measures.
