Organization Details
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their difference, can also be right. For more information, view the IB Brochure.
We at Coretta Scott King Magnet School are helping develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills of our students to live, learn, and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Did you know there are more than 566,000 IB students at 2,122 schools in 125 countries? Coretta Scott King Magnet School has become a part of this global family.
Authorization Status
In 2005, Coretta Scott King Magnet School began the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate Primary Years School. In December 2006, we were awarded "Candidate Status" and completed applications A and B. At the end of our 2007-2008 school year, we had our authorization visit which determined our status within the IB organization. We completed reauthorizations in 2016 and 2021.
